Cas’Amaro, Porco Espinho Branco 2023
Cas'Amaro is a family-run producer based in the Dão region of central Portugal. Their ethos centres on organic and low-intervention viticulture, working granite-based vineyards with traditional grape varieties. The team hand-harvests, employs gentle winemaking, and aims for wines that reflect terroir, sustainability and respect for nature. Light lemon-straw in the glass. On the nose: fresh white-flower florals, stone fruit (peach and nectarine) and a lifted, herbal edge. On the palate it’s crisp and balanced, with aromas of green apple, citrus zest and a mineral-tinged backbone, followed by a clean, lively finish. A bright, refreshing white ideal with seafood, shellfish or light summer dishes. Lees ageing (~8 months) gives modest weight without compromising freshness.
